History
The SEK was introduced in 1875 to replace the riksdaler when Sweden joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union.
After the demise of the union in 1914 the respective countries maintained the names of their currencies, despite the fact that they had become distinct units.
The SEK was floated on 19 November 1992.
The SEK accounted for 2% of global FX turnover in April 2019.
